This activity gives students a large table of weather data facts and figures chosen from places around the world that display very different weather patterns. Brief details about each place are given and the data includes monthly figures for rainy days, sunshine hours, millimetres of rain, minimum and maximum temperatures.

Students are asked to consider the data and to discuss and make comments and notes about what they notice. They can then go on to use the facilities of TI-Nspire to display the data to illustrate their findings. They can also analyse the data using a variety of statistical calculations. Students could also look for possible correlation between aspects of the data.

This activity makes use of a number of features of TI-Nspire without the need for much prior experience and gives explanations to help students get started.

This activity is one of seven in a booklet entitled Using Real World Data. This is part of a series of booklets presenting STEM Activities with TI-Nspire, published by Texas instruments in 2010.
